The history of the Hörmann garage door began in 1951, with the ‘Berry’ door, an ‘up-and-over’ design which has many advantages over the traditional side-hinged door. The Berry door saves space, is easier and quicker to operate and far simpler to install. In many ways, this was the door which opened the door for Hörmann, and to date over seven million have been sold to satisfied customers throughout Europe.

From their earliest days, Hörmann began to develop their pan-European strategy. Starting by building their first factory in Belgium in 1962. Today, Hörmann is represented all over Europe by a network of sales companies and agencies. Their products are truly European, complying, as they do, with the different country regulations and standards.
